Skin is scarred by acne, burns, surgery, accidents, chicken pox etc. An acne “scar” is a change in the texture or contour of the skin left by an acne lesion whereas a “blemish” is simply a change in color of the skin. Acne “blemishes” are red or brown discolorations of the skin which generally fade over time without treatment and are not considered true scars. Whitening products like NR Tri-Ex or NR HQ4 can be used to speed up the fading of the brown discoloration.
We offer treatments like Mosaic™, Dermaroller, long pulsed Nd:YAG l aser and intense pulsed light (IPL) which can provide an effective acne scar treatment, as well as being a solution to scarring due to injuries. The short wavelength intense pulsed light system (IPL) produces a broadband light and is used to eliminate superficial skin irregularities. The long pulsed Nd:YAG laser treats scars in the deeper layers of the skin. For deeply etched scars, we recommend Fractional Skin Resurfacing using Mosaic™. Laser treatments “injure” the upper layer of the skin and effectively stimulate new skin to grow revealing the fresher, more youthful, skin beneath.
