What is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)?

Also known as IPL Photorejuvenation, it involves emitting bright pulses of light that penetrate the skin to treat wrinkles, scars, acne, unwanted hair, facial blood vessels, freckles and skin pigmentation. It is an excellent treatment for sun-damaged skin. This is the best “overall” treatment for the skin as it can treat so many conditions.

This “lunch time” treatment takes only 15 – 30 minutes and u can return to work immediately.

Why should I choose this treatment?

IPL is a very safe form of treatment that takes only 15 – 30 minutes to perform. It has little side-effects, if any, and allows you to continue with your normal routine immediately.

Moreover, this is a simple procedure where most people experience a visible difference immediately.

What can IPL treat?

IPL has been used to successfully treat:

• Unwanted Hair - in all skin and hair colors (except for white hair) on all body parts
• Ingrown Hair, Pseudofolliculitis Barbae (Pfb), Or "Razor Bumps" - as well as the associated skin darkening and pimples
• Rosacea
• Facial Blood Vessels including Port Wine Stains & Hemangiomas

• Wrinkles
• Scars - elevated and depressed

Who is suitable for IPL treatments?

Almost everyone can use this form of treatment except for very dark-skinned individuals, those who have gone tanning recently and pregnant or nursing mothers.

How long does an IPL session take?

A typical IPL session lasts for about 15 – 30 minutes. There is virtually no down time i.e. you make apply make-up over the treated area and return to your work or normal routine immediately.

Because of the fast treatment procedure and minimal downtime, IPL is sometimes referred to as a “lunch time” treatment.

Is the IPL treatment painful?

Most feel a sensation of warmth. There are some who described it as the snapping of rubber bands onto the skin.

What are the side-effects?

This is a very safe procedure with little side effects. If any, the patient may experience slight reddening immediately after the treatment. This will disappear after a few days.

It is advisable to protect the treatment area from UV light, be it natural sunlight or tanning beds.

When can I see results?

Some patients obtain smoother skin with a glowing complexion after just 1 treatment. However, you can achieve long lasting results after 5 to 6 treatments.
